So... Pintony loves going to California for the Pinto Christmas Parties and Gatherings.
I think it was bothering him that he didn't have a Pinto of his own to drive while
out there. So he did what Pintony does, he bought one to keep out there.
I kept poking at him... it needed paint! and I wanted to help. Plans were made, tickets bought...
...and Cookieboy leaves Minnesota and minus 25 degree temps behind.
Pintony and the Cookieboy meet up in Texas
and finish the flight into...
Sunny California!
Alberto (Pintopower) comes to get us...
to take us to the land of Pinto's
where Pintony's car is being kept, my first look.
The next day a Pinto and Fiat canyon run had been planned.
Some of the rides...
... headed for the canyon.
Mt. Baldy here we come.
One of the first stops along the canyon run. This was great! fun and I hope to get to do it again.
After the Mt. Baldy canyon run it was time to get started on the project.
Time to start taking it apart...
... and pulling trim.
Pintony get's to show off his skills fixing dents and working metal.
Not Bad! Looks Great!
lots of wet sanding to make it smooth
Are we ready yet?
pulled out and ready to go...
to the paint and body shop.
Alberto's favorite body shop. The owner takes a look to see what is wanted and
can be done. Turns out the paint is so weak it all has to come off, down to metal.
Pintony tells them what color and deal made.
And back to Barth's it goes. A bit more work was done before Pintony and I left
for home. The rest shall have to wait for a later trip. Needs Paint!
Next Trip! The kid and I get on the plane.
Paint and body finished. Pintony got there a couple days before us and has already
started the process of putting it back together.
That is some nice! paint and a great color.
Barth and Pintony getting ready to install some shine.
Getting there...
Leonard helps out... shining more parts.
holding up the pole... what's next?
NOS grill, tires, finally ready for the next day.
getting ready for our trip to the Knott's Fabulous Fords Car Show. Barth in the
red hatchback and I get to drive the Shiny New Wagon!
Pintony is driving the Flying Pinto for it's first public appearance sitting next to Brian's squire wagon.
Off We Go!
We Have Arrived! with 30+ other Pinto's! A gathering before the show, it was something to see.
Apintonut looks on... The wagon sure turned out nice. The "shine" on this Pinto -
paint and brite work - Is fantastic! Looks like a new car, maybe better. Pintony now has his Shiny California Pinto!
