Becky and the little Pinto that could

Becky and Ruby Red Hot!

Here's Becky and Ruby Red Hot! The 1st Ever! winner of the "Cookie Award"

Read on and you'll see why...

I joined up with the Pinto Stampede at Indianapolis, Becky with the rest of the Western Pintos arrived after us, what a sight. We had Pinto's from the North, South and West converge in one small little parking lot at the hotel. All told there were 24 before we went to bed, 4 more joined in the morning for the next days fun at the Indy 500 Raceway. This is Becky and Ruby Red Hot after their victory lap.

Victory Lap?? you see... Becky and Ruby Red Hot left from Southern California to join the Pinto Stampede.

Ruby is a 1971 Ford Pinto that was sold in La Mesa California at Drew Ford.

with a base model engine, the english 1.6L and 4 speed.

Ruby has some upgraded wheels and tiny little 13" tires to run with.

Ruby is your classic driver Pinto doing what Pintos do best... get you there.

There were many doubters, even I was one of them.

but here she is in Carlisle, PA

proving the "experts" wrong, Ruby Red Hot the little Pinto that could.

red with a black interior, a classic Pinto.

even has some of the "deluxe" features like steering wheel, deluxe door panels and woodgrain dash trim.

Becky tells me the seats are getting tired, covers required and the pillows help cause the cushions and springs are worn. As you can see Becky has Ruby well packed for a trip, coast to coast.

Here's Becky and Ruby with some of the awards they received at Carlisle.

1st is a Celebrity Pick from Norm Bagi, leader of the Pinto Stampede
2nd is the Losers Car Club Award for "wing and a prayer"
3rd is a Long Distance Award from the PCCA

This is the last time I saw Becky and Ruby before I left for home, that little Pinto that could stayed on the east coast for awhile visiting other Pinto friends before making the long trip home. It's stories like Becky's and Ruby's that are what make this cookieboy smile. It's not the shiney ones that impress me, it's the ones like this that I give the most respect to.

I can only hope I once again get to ride with Becky and Ruby, a true lady and her amazing little pony.
